Young Parents

As parents with young children it can be so difficult to find opportunities for faith and fellowship that fit your schedule.  It can be difficult just to make it to the grocery store!  That said, here are a few easy ways to plug into the St. Thomas the Apostle parish community and meet other young parents and their families:

Family Fellowship

Look for the "young families" sign on a table in the Gym after 9:30 a.m. Mass for a unique chance to mingle and meet with other families with young children enjoy a donut.  These gathering opportunities will be available immediately following the 9:30 a.m. parish Masses on the remaining scheduled Donut Sunday dates: March 12, April 23, May 21, June 4.  Contact Brett (ym@stapostle.org) to RSVP or just show up!

Stay, Pray, & Play

This is a great opportunity for play time for the kids, fellowship for parents, and family prayer experiences.  Plenty of toys are available for use.  A family restroom with a changing table in addition to a quiet nursing/feeding room are also located nearby.  Children of all ages are invited to attend, but must be accompanied by a least one parent/guardian.  There are two options to get involved, Mondays 4:15-5:30 p.m. or Thursdays 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. (see below):

Monday dates (Contact Gina at ginahowley@comcast.net) - Mar.6, 13, & 20
Thursday dates (Contact Blair at blaircovino@gmail.com) - Mar. 9, Mar. 23, Apr. 6, Apr. 20, May 4, May 18, Jun. 1, and June 15

While Attending Mass at St. Thomas

Family Room: We love having children join us during Mass! However, sometimes kids (and parents!) just need a little break.  When that happens, our Family Room (just across from our Main Office) is packed with crayons, coloring paper, books, and other quiet toys to entertain kids so parents can stay present to the liturgy.  There is a window to see into the sanctuary and a speaker overhead so that every part of the Mass can still be easily seen, heard, and experienced.  Take a break, but please rejoin the sanctuary when you are able so the rest of our congregation can be blessed by the gift of your children's presence!

Nursery: For those parents who would like some "me time" during Mass, our nursery is open during the 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday Masses.  For only $3 per child per Sunday, adult and teen helpers will keep an eye on your kiddos while you attend Mass.  If you offer your services as a volunteer, participation for your child is free.

Nursing Room: For nursing mothers desiring more privacy, the Reconciliation Room is open for your use during weekend Masses and is located on the side of the Chapel closest to the main hallway.
